The Jersey Chamber Weekly Update
Dear Subscriber,
To be competitive, you need teamwork.
As the news that the Financial Services Competitiveness Programme is announced this week, we should all welcome this forward thinking from the Government.
We should also recognise that the competitiveness of this sector has already led to significant achievements: passing MoneyVal with flying colours, ranking among the top 10 international finance centres globally, and building strong and beneficial relationships with the Middle East, Africa, Far East, UK, and with timing being everything, the US.
In times of economic uncertainty, Jersey represents stability and trust. And regardless of your sector, this continued success and further initiative to keep ahead is good news for everyone, as we all benefit.
The importance of increasing our edge over the competition elsewhere is not an exclusive role for the finance sector. If 'Team Jersey' is to succeed, we need all sectors of that team to be the best they can.
There is much beyond the control of our shores, but more than enough that we can improve within them. Digital and productivity up-skilling for better equipping every sector (and our Government) is an essential not a nice to have. It's there, but it's not fully being given the priority or focus it deserves.
Making 'Team Jersey' a reality for the economy and a better place for everyone should be our route. Let's see the positives and possibilities and get happier.
Thankfully the exciting prospect of a long list of improvements to all we see around us will begin to improve, our economy, our island and our lives.
The glass is more than half-full, and we should get on with topping it up.
Have a great weekend.
Murray,

THIS YEAR CHAMBER IS SUPPORTING KEZIA'S FUND |
|
|
|
As Chamber members are aware we currently supporting Kezia's Fund.
Kezia's Fund was set up to support initiatives promoting good mental health amongst children and young people in Jersey. It provides grants and support to organisations that are working to address the issue of rising rates of poor mental health.
One of the primary fundraising events for this fund is Run for Kezia, an event which attracted 800 participants last year to run or walk over the choice of 3 distances (2k, 5k, 10k). The event is being held to coincide, again, with World Suicide Prevention Day on 15 September.
We would like to encourage all members to consider signing up (it is not competitive, timed and it is not necessary to run) and to encourage their families, friends and colleagues to sign up too: Kezia's Fund
Thank you |
