The Jersey Chamber Weekly Update
Dear Subscriber,
As this is the last newsletter of the year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the importance of the Christmas break.
This is perfect for rest, rejuvenation, and reconnecting with loved ones. Whether you're planning to cosy up by the fire, enjoy a festive feast, or simply take a well-deserved break, I hope you find joy and relaxation.
But let's not forget, the spirit of goodwill isn't just for Christmas!
As businesses, we have a unique opportunity to extend this kindness throughout the year. Small acts of generosity, volunteering, and sustained support for our communities can make a significant impact.
As individuals we have a chance to reflect on how tough the roles of others can be. Mindful of the tongue-in-cheek ribbing I give out at the Christmas lunch and speaking as a former shopkeeper, restaurateur, broadcaster reminds me of the years I worked every day through the Christmas period, and as a former politician, how little understanding there often is of just how difficult the job can be.
Let's hope we can carry some of the compassion of the season into the new year and beyond.
To continue that thought, at Chamber we want to acknowledge and express our gratitude to those who will be working during the Christmas and New Year period. Your dedication ensures that essential services continue to run smoothly, and we rightly appreciate your commitment.
Whether you're in healthcare, emergency services, hospitality, retail or any other sector, thank you on behalf of the rest of us, who will still expect your services to be there during our time off.
My special thank you goes out to the incredible team behind the Chamber. Flori and Daisy in the Executive office make it happen, along with our President, VP's, sector committees, sponsors, and suppliers. Your support and dedication throughout the year is what makes Chamber the business organisation it is today.
Together, we've achieved so much, and I look forward to continuing our work in the new year.
And what a start to 2025 we have with our first five Chamber Lunches: January the CEO of the Govt of Jersey, February the Minister responsible for Planning, March, the person in charge of DFDS, April is the CEO of Jersey Development Company talking Waterfront and Fort Regent and in May, the Chief Minister one year out from the election.
Plenty to look forward to, but right now I'll simply wish you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
