The Jersey Chamber Weekly Update
Dear Subscriber,
A little bit of calm
Note to self… the year is a long race, it's not a sprint. I say this (to myself, and you) as a reminder that we appear to have left the sprinting blocks of January like the clappers, and my ears are ringing at speed, as we have catapulted into the year.
Perhaps the Christmas rest was too good, or we have a sudden collective impulse to address the issues of everything, but the 2025 pace is certainly noticeable.
The danger is we might all get busy being busy, which is not the best use of our time and energy. We've all suffered the meeting for meeting's sake, and I suspect there is a fair amount of unproductive moments and replication everywhere, neither of which approaches are progressive or time-effective.
That said, our current work with other industry bodies and business organisations is proving insightful and effective. There's plenty to cover, so busy we are.
The upside is Jersey is up and at it, evaluating where we are, where we need to be and what it'll take to get us there. This is a positive, even if the CEO of Govt has reminded us that we cannot be a 'bull in a pottery shop' about it. Some cool, calm and calculated thinking is required.
I suspect the craziness of Chamber was amplified with the requests for tickets to our Chamber lunch. Tickets are now on sale for February through to May, so do book early. February and March are already very close to being sold out, so do get a wiggle on!
There are eleven months left, so steady on now. Being cool and calculated is beyond me, so I'll settle for a calm weekend.
Have a great weekend
Murray,
